Sussex Heritage Award Winner 2023
We worked in St Michael and All Angels Grade I listed Church, set in the peaceful village of Berwick, to restore and conserve the extensive 20th Century paintings by Duncan Grant, Vanessa Bell and Quentin Bell, which were commissioned during the Second World War by Bishop Bell.
We built a W.C. and kitchenette and extended the porch to create an airlock to protect the paintings, as well as lowering the path and adding a new ground source underfloor heating system.
Throughout the duration of this project, we worked closely alongside archaeologists and the conservation team.
